Songs that are the reason I love a band, #1.

This will be a little series where I give songs by bands I love, not necessarily the song I love by them the most, but they are the reason I fell in love with the band to begin with. I will try and explain why this song is picked and why it personally is the one I liked. I will try and explain 5 artists per post in this series, until I run out of artists to do this with. Without further ado, let's go! 1. Artist: Linkin Park, Song: Castle of glass. Yes, I used to/still love Linkin Park. Yes, there are other songs by them that are way more popular, and songs that are way more catchy. And yes, I realize that this song is on one of their worse albums, but for some reason, it was one of their first songs I had ever heard. If you haven't heard it, well it's a little more ballad than your usual Linkin Park song. It starts with just Mike Shinoda leading the song, then for the rest of the song it's either Chester singing or both of them. The part that I loved most about t

Marathon training, day 40-100

Day 43 , 10-18-18 Thursday after cross country. Took 2 days of rest, then I started running again. Took a 7 mile run yesterday, and I ran 14 miles today! My 7 mile run had my best 10k time yet, (45:57) and my 14 mile run was my first half marathon, and goodness, that was so much faster than I thought it would be. I had aimed at a 8:00-8:25 pace for the half marathon, and each mile was about 7:27. I just started off the run fast, (about 22 minutes for the first 5k) then as I slowed down, each mile went by at about 7:30 for each mile, though I felt like I was running slower, I just kept packing in 7:30 miles. It was a lot of fun, and I didn't end up feeling too sore afterwards, I felt pretty good. Still sore though. Day 45 , 10-20-18 7 miles today, in cold and windy temperatures. 34 degrees, only my second run in temperatures like this, but with a sweatshirt, gloves, and a hat it really kept me warm. The strides after the run felt really sluggish though, because my hamstrings w

Twenty One Pilots album rankings, (minus regional at best)

Twenty One Pilots, the band out of Ohio that has made such fan favorites such at Stressed Out, Car radio, and Jumpsuit, just to name a few. Today I will attempt to rank the 4 albums they have released into the world, (I know, there's 5 albums, but regional at best is no where to be found on most places except you tube) and explaining my reasons as to why each album falls where it does. The main reason I will not be including Regional at best is, to be completely honest, because I haven't listened to it through more than once since I would have to listen to it off of you tube. Just like any list, this will be biased, this will be my opinion, if you don't agree feel free to express your opinions. Without further ado, let's get into this! 4: Self titled/Twenty One Pilots While this album is still great, and it's still a great album to look back to, I will have to give it the less than coveted bottom spot. This album has plenty of positives, the main reason I thi

Blurryface-Twenty one pilots overview and personal thoughts

Blurryface , actually the 4th studio album by the band Twenty One Pilots. After the first album, that wasn't the most popular but definitely built a fan base. The second album was similar, it also built the fan base even more, and had a couple songs that while they never charted on the BH100, they were super popular among the fans. Then the third album, just like the last two, none of the songs charted, but here is where the band began to get into the mainstream, with songs like Car radio, Ode to sleep, and Holding on to you. (Yes I know I need to finish the album overview for Vessel beyond the first two songs) With all the hype in the band, with both the fans and the mainstream alike, does this album live up to the hype? The album starts with the song Heavydirtysoul . The song starts off with the second (or third if you count the one later in the song) fastest rap section in Twenty One Pilots songs (I don't know about kitchen sink, I didn't calculate it yet). The rap s

Marathon training/Cross country season Days 18-39

Day 18 , 9/22/18 Long run day. Ran it with Sam, Isaiah, and Elijah. Was really glad to have company, especially after Friday. I bruised my calf at a party I went to, we were playing capture the flag and I tripped, and someone tripped over my calf. I was fine for the game, but after the adrenaline had worn off, I was limping pretty hard. I iced my leg that night which helped, but it was still sore the next morning. But that wasn't the worst when it came to the run. I had gotten a sore throat on Saturday morning right before the run and that just made my run miserable. I couldn't breathe great, second half of the run I was coughing every 3 minutes or so, and I had a headache to top it all off. The run started off pretty fine though, although it was much slower than I usually run. Isaiah probably didn't mind, since I stuck back with him anytime he got behind. Talked about how bad it looks like we exert ourselves when we run, it was a pretty interesting conversation. Both Is

Marathon training/Cross country season, days 1-17

To be fair, Marathon training started quite a while ago for me, but since it starts 8 months from today, I'll count that as day 1 . I joined a track team very early this spring, my Mom didn't like how inactive I was, so she signed me up for track. I am really glad she did, ever since track has started, I have been running a lot, over the summer I joined a running club, ran 300 miles, and since have joined a cross country team. Right now, since marathon workout plans don't extend out this far, (8 months) then I don't run any set runs right now, plus I have my cross country workouts I am running, so I don't want to burn myself out too much anyway. Currently, I haven't run anything farther than 11.5 miles, and my current mileage is 30-35 miles a week. As of last week, I had my first 5k race and cross country meet, I ran expecting to get ~22:30 and I ended up crushing the time with a 20:52. With everything going as it is, I am looking forward to running more in the

RIOT! Album overview and personal thoughts

RIOT! The second studio album by the band Paramore, and the first one to get the name Paramore into the mainstream. This album falls into the category of Pop-Punk, or if you want to be more general, just call it rock. Fronted by a female lead vocalist, this band has an interesting chemistry that many other bands do not have, but is that a good or bad thing? For a Pessimist, I'm pretty optimistic  is the lead song off of the album RIOT!, and it is a very good introduction to the band, and the album. A hard-rocking, fast paced and energetic piece, and an ok message in the song at best, I would say. While the song is a jam, and the lyrics have a good message to them, after about 10 listens to the album, the song seems to have less staying power than some of the rest of the songs, perhaps it's the slightly repetitive chorus, perhaps it's the "generic" use of the guitars. Either way, while there is plenty I can dislike about this song, I still think that it is a go
